The males usually prefer to live and stay in outdoor light, however, they could be seen inside when they feel affected by the presence of a female when it’s dark. These are the American, the German and the Brown Banded cockroach. Of all these types, the American cockroaches are the only ones that actually use their wings and fly.

The Brown Banded cockroaches that inhabit Singapore prefer to live in humid places such as sewers and even drains. The lifespan of an adult cockroach of that type varies from 90 to 115 days. The third type, the German cockroaches, can be seen around buildings and places that people live in. They are mostly attracted by kitchens and other rooms that might include food or some leftovers.
How to avoid the appearance of cockroaches?
One thing is for sure, cockroaches can be seen everywhere around the world and not just in Singapore. These pests are totally different from the others. They have a very unique characteristic as well – they can live for over a week without their heads and still manage to survive because of the many holes that are part of their body segments. The thing that annoys people the most is that these insects can spread a lot of diseases because of the places that they like to inhabit so it’s always important to protect yourself. If you want to avoid the cockroaches, regardless of their type, it’s good to take out the trash all the time and keep the environment clean. The food should be stored in strong boxes and packages that will be hard for the cockroaches to get in. Keeping everything clean will make sure cockroaches don’t feel comfortable wandering around.
